About
A budding Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) specialist blogging about the marketing world.
I will probably lean more towards topics concerning branding and non-profits (separately and in tandem) because that’s where my roaming interests currently gravitate.
*Note on the title of this blog: In one of my IMC classes (Special Topics: Word of Mouth Marketing) we read Malcolm Gladwells’ The Tipping Point. In it he describes the three rules of epidemics, beginning with the “Law of the Few.” In this law there are three types of people who are among a select few that are responsible for the tipping of an epidemic: Connectors, Mavens, and Salesmen. Maven is a Yiddish word for a person who is an expert in a particular field and is a trusted source. And although I am not Hebrew by heritage, I did grow up in a family of know-it-alls in a Jewish town just outside of NYC. Yiddish words tickle my fancy and quite a few are part of my regular vocabulary (for example: oy vey, shlep, spiel, and tuches). On top of that, I read a lot and Google everything in my quest to know a little something about everything. I have found that my friends and colleagues often come to me for advice or explanations of different things. Sometimes I wonder why they would even think I know the answer to some things, but the truth is if I don’t I research it and get back to them. So this blog is my way of sharing this gift and thirst for knowledge about marketing and the world at large.
